MY TEACHER, MY HERO
There are countless definitions of
heroes today. Is it a superstar who used his fame and fortune to help the needy
in his hometown? Is it a fire fighter who sees no danger in all circumstances
just to save lives of people? Is it an Overseas Filipino Worker who is ready to
bear the pain of being alone just to provide his family a comfortable life? But
what really makes a person a hero?
There are heroes and heroines,
national and local. Some of them are born, others are made. Many are still
living while many others have long been gone. It is to the latter that
monuments and museums were built to keep alive their memories in our hearts and
mind. Public buildings, parks and plazas, streets and few cities and provinces
have been named after them. Important dates and events are usually marked red
in the calendar to remind us of their birth or death anniversary. During the
celebration of these events, program speakers take turns extolling to high
heavens whatever good they had done for the country.
But behind all these great people are
strong foundations that guide, develop, and mold them all throughout. They are
the teachers!
In life, people
may come and go, some will be remembered and some are forgotten. But one thing
is for sure, I'll never forget the person who is known as my second parent. Who
did efforts for me to gain knowledge, the one who has been my guide for so many
years, the one who scolds and corrects me when I am doing wrong, The one who
has been there as I face to reach the stepping stones in my life. The one who
appreciates my efforts, the one who is always there to feed me a bit-full of
information that I might use someday, the one who saves me from this unfair
life where everyone should be feed with the same level of knowledge. The person
who sacrifices for our own-good, and yet, the laziness that I've shown them, the
tiredness that they have seen from me. After all, they never give up and they
never stop to fill us with knowledge and when we are going to fall, they are
always there to reach our hand and pull us back and so, the years might have
been overthrown, and everything will fade, but they always be my hero for life
and for all that efforts and sacrifices that they've done for us.
How would life be without teachers? There would be no doctors to cure our diseases or illnesses, there would be no police to keep our cities or countries safe and peaceful, there would be no fire fighters to put out fires. Without teachers, the world would be filled with chaos. We would be nothing without them. That's why our teachers are the real heroes
